William Carey Track and Field Sets Five School Records at Eagles Invitational
Mobile, Alabama — William Carey University’s track and field teams set five new school records Saturday at the United States Sports University Eagles Invitational at the University of South Alabama.
The Owls men finished fifth among seven teams, while the women placed sixth. Four of the five records came from the men’s team, with the women setting a single record in the 4×400-meter relay.
Junior Noel Kellum highlighted the record-breaking efforts, earning two new standards. Kellum’s throw of 40.01 meters in the discus surpassed the previous record of 39.00 meters, earning him fourth place overall. He also set a new javelin record with a toss of 46.46 meters, beating the old mark of 46.39 meters and finishing third in that event.
In the men’s 800 meters, newcomer Jarvis Sellers clocked in at 2 minutes, 0.40 seconds, cutting more than seven seconds off the previous school record set by Joshua Gonsalves in 2023. The men’s 4×100-meter relay team of Malachi Morgan, Kobe Smith, Kellum and Bryson Boler finished in 42.67 seconds, breaking the previous school record of 42.78 seconds.
The women’s 4×400-meter relay team of Armoni King, Cassidy Talley, Sacaria Wolford and Kamiyah Whiting finished second in 4:16.90, eclipsing the old record of 4:19.24 set in 2025.
William Carey’s athletes continue to improve, demonstrating strong performances at the meet, according to team officials.
