Three Jackson State Athletes Earn SWAC Weekly Awards

Jackson State University athletes earned multiple weekly awards from the Southwestern Athletic Conference on Friday, following their performances at the Georgia Tech Invitational.

Sedgwrick Pitts Jr. was named SWAC Track Athlete of the Week for the fourth time this season. He finished second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 20.63 seconds and also placed in the top 10 in the 100-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 10.56 seconds, according to the conference.

Jordin Smith received co-Field Athlete of the Week honors after finishing second in the high jump. Smith set two personal bests, clearing heights of 2.00 and 2.06 meters during the event.

Rickey Green III was named SWAC Newcomer of the Week after placing sixth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.40 seconds. The sophomore from Inderkum, California, continues to post impressive times in his first collegiate season, the conference said.
