Jackson State Track Athletes Finish Top Three at Georgia Tech Invitational

ATLANTA — Jackson State University’s track and field team posted strong performances at the Georgia Tech Invitational over the weekend, with three athletes finishing in the top three of their events, according to the school.

Sprinter Sedgwrick Pitts Jr. finished second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 20.63 seconds and also placed in the top 10 in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.56 seconds, the school said. High jumper Jordin Smith secured second place, clearing two personal bests at 2.00 and 2.06 meters. Shot putter Kaiden Berry finished second with a throw of 16.94 meters.

On the women’s side, sophomore Gabrielle Langford set a new personal best in the 200-meter dash, the school added. Jackson State is scheduled to compete next at the Maroon and White Tune Up in Starkville, Mississippi, on Friday, May 1.
