Southern Miss to Compete in 2026 Sun Belt Beach Volleyball Championship
HATTIESBURG, Miss. — Southern Miss will face ULM in the opening round of the 2026 Sun Belt Beach Volleyball Championship on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Foley Sports Tourism Complex in Foley, Alabama, according to the Sun Belt Conference.
The third-seeded Golden Eagles enter the tournament with a 14-19 overall record and a 4-1 mark in conference play. They are seeking their first Sun Belt title after setting new program records for conference wins and tournament seedings, the conference said.
The Sun Belt will provide live coverage of all 12 duals at the Foley site via ESPN+ and live statistics. Garrett Walvoord will call the matches with Shelby Coppedge providing analysis.
Southern Miss will meet ULM for the fourth time this season after defeating the Warhawks three times in 2026, including last week at the NOLA Classic. A win Thursday would send the Eagles to the winner’s bracket to face the winner of Georgia State versus Mercer. A loss would eliminate Southern Miss from the tournament.
The Golden Eagles need to win all four matches to claim their first Sun Belt championship, the conference says. Last season, they posted a 2-2 record at the tournament. The team has an all-time tournament record of 5-6 and 7-11 in postseason play.
Coastal Carolina earned the top seed, with Georgia State placing second after a tiebreaker. ULM is seeded sixth, and Mercer is seventh. The double-elimination format continues through Saturday, culminating in the championship match Sunday at 1 p.m.
