Southern Miss Men’s Tennis Hosts Two Home Matches to End Week

HATTIESBURG, Miss. — The University of Southern Mississippi men’s tennis team is set to play two home matches this weekend at the USM Tennis Complex. The Golden Eagles will face New Orleans on Friday and Norfolk State on Saturday, as they continue their busy spring schedule.

Southern Miss has shown strong doubles play early in the season, often setting the tone with quick points. The team hopes to carry that momentum into these matches to create separation early and build confidence in singles play. The team’s depth and ability to start strong will be crucial, especially with limited recovery time between matches.

The team’s schedule originally included a match against Charleston on Sunday, but it has been canceled due to logistical issues, according to school officials. All players, including Eric Perkowski, Saheb Sodhi, Olle Noltorp, Ritabrata Sarkar, Jay Temming, Kale Mize, Jose Murariu, Matei Varbanciu, and Rasmus Becker, are expected to participate. Head coach Zubin Engineer and assistant Nicolas Simkin are guiding the team.

Fans can follow updates on the team’s social media accounts, @SouthernMissMTN on Instagram and X. The matches start at 2 p.m. each day, with Southern Miss aiming to protect its home court and continue building toward the spring season.
