Schedule Change for NCAA Baseball Hattiesburg Regional Opening Day Due to Weather
HATTIESBURG, Miss. — The NCAA Hattiesburg Regional baseball tournament’s opening day schedule has been altered due to expected rain in the area, according to university officials.
The first game, featuring top-seeded Southern Miss and No. 4 seed Little Rock, has been moved up to 12 p.m. Central time. The second game, between No. 3 Jacksonville State and No. 2 Virginia, remains scheduled for 6 p.m. CT.
Parking for the event will begin at 9 a.m., with gates opening at 10 a.m. Saturday’s schedule remains unchanged, with the losers’ games set for 3 p.m. and the winners’ game at 8 p.m. CT.
The regional is hosted at Pete Taylor Park on the Southern Miss campus. The tournament field was announced earlier this week, with Southern Miss earning the No. 9 national seed.
Weather conditions prompted the schedule adjustment, but officials have confirmed the tournament will proceed as planned.
