Ole Miss Softball to Host No. 16 Mississippi State in Regular Season Finale
The University of Mississippi softball team will wrap up its regular season with a three-game series against No. 16 Mississippi State at Ole Miss Softball Stadium. The Rebels, holding a 30-22 overall record and 4-17 in SEC play, are coming off a series win at Auburn.
The Bulldogs enter the series with a 36-15 record and an 8-13 SEC mark. The opener is scheduled for Thursday at 6 p.m. CT, with the second game on Friday at 6 p.m. CT. Both will be streamed via SEC Network Plus. The final game is set for Saturday at 2 p.m. CT and will be televised on SEC Network. The series will also serve as a farewell for Ole Miss’s graduating seniors.
Ole Miss is led by freshman Madi George, who recently set the program’s single-season home run record and is the reigning National Freshman of the Week. The Rebels have hit 75 home runs this season, setting a new school record and ranking 20th nationally. Defense has been crucial, with the team recording 27 double plays, third-best in the SEC and 12th nationally.
The Rebels have faced a tough schedule, including 18 games against RPI Top-25 teams. Despite challenges, Ole Miss has shown offensive power, including a historic SEC series against Texas A&M with eight home runs. The team’s success depends in part on its middle-of-the-order hitters, Persy Llamas and George, who have driven in key runs this season.
Ole Miss’s recent performances include historic wins, such as its first-ever series victory in Knoxville against No. 4 Tennessee. The team has received national recognition for freshman Madi George, who swept several weekly honors after a strong performance. The Rebels aim to finish strong and secure a favorable seed in the SEC Tournament, with postseason aspirations still alive.
