Ole Miss Predicted to Finish Third in SEC, Receives Eight Preseason All-Conference Honors

The University of Mississippi football team is slated to finish third in the Southeastern Conference standings, according to the league’s preseason media poll released Friday. The Rebels received 2,004 points in the poll, which places them behind Georgia and Texas.

Ole Miss earned eight preseason all-SEC honors, including three first-team selections. Quarterback Trinidad Chambliss, running back Kewan Lacy, and defensive lineman Will Echoles were named to the first team, while kicker Lucas Carneiro and linebacker Suntarine Perkins made the second team. Offensive linemen Patrick Kutas and Kam Franklin earned third-team honors, league officials said.

Following Ole Miss in the predicted order of finish are Texas A&M, LSU, Alabama, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Florida, and Missouri. Georgia and Texas topped the poll, with Georgia receiving 2,519 points and Texas 2,449. The Rebels are coming off a College Football Playoff semifinal appearance last season and will open their 2026 campaign against Louisville on September 6 at Nissan Stadium in Nashville.

The preseason all-SEC team features a mix of established stars and emerging talent. Ole Miss’s Kutas and Franklin are among the selected offensive and defensive standouts. Meanwhile, several other teams’ players received honors across the league, highlighting the competitive landscape ahead of the season.
