Ole Miss Men’s Tennis Advances to SEC Tournament Second Round
COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Ole Miss men’s tennis secured a 4-0 victory over Tennessee on Wednesday, advancing to the second round of the SEC Tournament. The Rebels, with a 19-8 record overall and a 6-8 mark in conference play, will face South Carolina on Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Mitchell Tennis Center.
The Rebels are ranked No. 13 nationally and feature several nationally ranked players, including No. 81 Stefano D’Agostino and No. 119 Matthieu Chambonniere in singles, along with the No. 26 doubles team of Isac Strömberg and Kai Milburn. Ole Miss previously defeated South Carolina, 5-2, earlier this season when the Gamecocks were ranked No. 14.
South Carolina finished its regular season with a 15-7 record, going 5-2 after its loss to Ole Miss. The Gamecocks boast a strong roster, with No. 13 Lucas Da Silva and No. 72 Sean Daryabeigi leading their singles lineup. In doubles, they have three ranked pairings, including No. 7 Gazeau and Da Silva.
If Ole Miss wins, it will face Mississippi State, the No. 2 seed, in the quarterfinals on Friday. The match is scheduled for 2 p.m. and will be streamed via live stats; no live video will be available.
The team also features standout players such as Chambonniere, who finished the 2024 season with a 23-7 singles record and earned the most wins among Rebels in both singles and doubles. D’Agostino, ranked as high as No. 2 in the ITF singles rankings, and other team members contribute to the Rebels’ competitive roster heading into the tournament.
