Ole Miss Baseball’s Bissetta and Townsend Earn SEC Weekly Honors

Ole Miss baseball players Tristan Bissetta and Cade Townsend have been recognized by the Southeastern Conference for their performances last week. Bissetta was named SEC Co-Player of the Week, while Townsend earned SEC Co-Pitcher of the Week honors, according to an announcement from the SEC.

Bissetta led the Rebels offensively, hitting .500 with four home runs, three doubles, 10 RBIs, and seven runs scored over the past week. He homered in each game and launched a 424-foot grand slam Saturday to help clinch the series against Southern Miss. Over his last eight games, Bissetta is batting .438 with five home runs, four doubles, 12 RBIs, and 13 runs scored. He has homered in five consecutive games.

Cade Townsend pitched a key role in Ole Miss’s series win over Tennessee. The sophomore delivered his third consecutive quality start, tossing six scoreless innings while allowing just four baserunners and striking out seven. Over his last three starts, Townsend has an ERA of 1.50 with 21 strikeouts over 18 innings. He has limited opponents to a .172 batting average during that span.

Townsend is the first Rebel to earn Pitcher of the Week honors since Gunnar Hoglund in May 2021. Bissetta is the first Ole Miss player to be named Player of the Week since Isaac Humphrey in March of last year.
