Ole Miss Baseball Travels to Knoxville for Series Against Tennessee
Ole Miss baseball, ranked 25th nationally, will face Tennessee in a three-game SEC series in Knoxville this weekend. The Rebels hold an 8-7 conference record and enter the series on a six-game winning streak, having won eight of their last nine games.
The series begins Friday at 5:30 p.m. CT, with Saturday’s game scheduled for 5 p.m. CT and Sunday’s finale set for noon CT. All three games will be streamed on SEC Network+ and can be heard on the Ole Miss Radio Network, according to university athletics.
Ole Miss is coming off a series sweep of LSU, where they scored 26 runs and recorded 32 hits—both season highs in SEC play. Key players include Tristan Bissetta, who went 4-for-5 against Southern Miss, and Hayden Federico, who has hit .571 over his last nine games. Walker Hooks has earned three wins and two saves with a 1.06 ERA in his recent appearances.
Tennessee, coached by first-year head coach Josh Elander, has a 25-12 overall record and a 7-8 SEC mark. The Volunteers recently swept Mississippi State in their first SEC series victory of the season and boast a strong defensive team with a .984 fielding percentage, ranking sixth nationally.
Projected starting pitchers for the series include Landon Mack, Tegan Kuhns, and Evan Blanco. Tennessee’s top hitter is Henry Ford, with 11 home runs and 34 RBIs. The Volunteers have a balanced offensive attack, with 57 home runs this season, and several players batting over .300.
Ole Miss’s pitching staff leads the SEC with 432 strikeouts and ranks fifth in the NCAA. The Rebels’ bullpen has been particularly effective, with Walker Hooks posting a 1.06 ERA over his last seven appearances. Ole Miss’s recent quality starts mark a notable improvement, with all three starters working six innings and allowing two runs last weekend against LSU.
