Ole Miss’ Alexander and Carneiro Earn SEC Weekly Honors After Louisville Game

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Ole Miss wide receiver Deuce Alexander and kicker Lucas Carneiro earned Southeastern Conference weekly honors for their performances against No. 24 Louisville, the SEC announced Monday.

Alexander, a senior from Douglasville, Georgia, recorded a career-best 159 yards on five catches, including two touchdowns. His first score was a 62-yard reception in the first half, and he added another 62-yard touchdown later in the third quarter, catching a deep throw from quarterback Trinidad Chambliss and outrunning the defense.

Carneiro, a kicker from Cornelius, North Carolina, made a 48-yard field goal as time expired to secure Ole Miss’s 41-38 victory. He also connected on a 43-yard field goal in the second quarter and was perfect on five PAT attempts. With 11 points in the game, Carneiro has totaled 160 career points, ranking 14th in school history.

Carneiro has now made three career game-winning field goals of 45 yards or more in the final seconds, the most by any FBS kicker in the past 30 years, according to the SEC.

Ole Miss, ranked No. 9, returns home Saturday for its season opener against Charlotte at 6:45 p.m. on ESPN2.
