Northwest Mississippi Women’s Golf Finishes Fifth at Calhoun Classic
The Northwest Mississippi Community College women’s golf team finished fifth out of eight teams at the Calhoun Women’s Spring Classic at Burningtree Country Club, according to school officials. The Rangers shot a team score of 118 over par, their best of the season.
A top-three finish from freshman AnaLeigh Little helped lead the team. Little finished second overall, marking one of her best performances of the year. She shot eight over par on the first day, including a birdie on hole 12, and improved to five over on the second day with four birdies.
Junior Bella McNeil also finished in the top 10. She shot 12 over par on the first day, with a birdie on hole two and six pars. On the second day, McNeil shot 10 over, ending the tournament in 10th place with a combined score of 22 over.
Freshman Madison Baker played consistently over the two days, ending with a total of 38 over par to finish 26th. She shot seven pars on each day. Fellow freshmen Sarah Niblett and Zaeja Davis finished 32nd and moved up six spots after shooting 45 over par each. Niblett recorded three consecutive pars on the front nine, while Davis posted six pars each day, with a birdie on day two.
Senior Addison Forbes wrapped up the team’s scores in 46th place. She shot 76 over par, with four pars on the first day. The team will next compete at the NEMCC Women’s Spring Invitational in Corinth on April 7-8 at Shiloh Ridge Golf and Fitness, according to school officials.
