Northwest Mississippi Volleyball’s Ariana Woods Named MACCC Defensive Player of the Week
SENATOBIA, Miss. — Ariana Woods of Northwest Mississippi Community College has been named the MACCC Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in 2026. The sophomore from Walls, Mississippi, made a significant impact on the court during a four-match winning streak.
Woods recorded four solo blocks and 12 block assists, totaling 10 points from the net. She also contributed three aces and five digs, helping the Rangers secure victories over Williams Baptist (JV), Coahoma Community College, Highland Community College (Kansas), and Snead State Community College.
The award comes after a strong freshman season in which Woods was named to the All-MACCC First Team. She has started the 2026 season with impressive numbers, including 15 aces, 30 total blocks—seven solo—and a .350 hitting percentage through nine matches. Woods has also been an offensive threat with 89 kills early in the season.
