Mississippi Valley State Linebacker Douglas Franklin Named to SWAC Preseason All-Conference Team

Mississippi Valley State linebacker Douglas Franklin has been named to the 2026 Preseason All-SWAC Second Team Defense, the Southwestern Athletic Conference announced Tuesday.

Franklin earned the preseason honor following a productive 2025 campaign. He played in all 12 games and finished the season with 39 total tackles, including 23 solo stops and 16 assisted tackles. He also recorded 5.5 tackles for loss, one pass breakup and one quarterback hurry.

As a key contributor on the Delta Devils’ defense, Franklin enters the 2026 season as a leader under head coach Terrell Buckley. His preseason recognition reflects his continued growth and the expectations for his impact on the team’s defense this year.
