Mississippi Valley State Announces 2026 Football Schedule, Highlighted by Chicago Classic Return
Mississippi Valley State University has released its football schedule for the 2026 season, marking the second year of coach Terrell Buckley’s tenure. The schedule includes four home games and the team’s return to the Chicago Football Classic at Soldier Field for the first time since 2010.
The Delta Devils will open the season on August 27 with a trip to Nicholls State in Louisiana. Their second game will be against Sacramento State on September 5, marking the first meeting between the two programs. The team then returns to Chicago to play in the Classic on September 12, a recurring event since its founding in 1997.
Mississippi Valley State will host Delta State in their home opener on September 19. SWAC action begins on September 26 with a game against Alabama State in Montgomery. The team also hosts Prairie View A&M on October 3 and Texas Southern on October 10, the latter marking their first visit since 2018.
The 73rd homecoming game is scheduled for October 17 against Bethune-Cookman. After a bye week, the team will face Alcorn State on Halloween and then travel to Jackson State on November 7. Their final road game will be against Florida A&M on November 14, followed by Senior Day against Alabama A&M on November 21.
