Mississippi State Soccer Players Continue Professional Careers in U.S., Mexico, and Europe

Mississippi State has 12 former Bulldogs competing professionally worldwide, according to a September update from the school’s athletics department. Recent signings and performances include Miranda Carrasco, who joined CF Union Viera in Spain, and Aitana Martinez-Montoya, who is on a three-match goal streak with Atlas FC in Mexico.

Carrasco, a 2018-22 graduate, signed with CF Union Viera in the Spanish Segunda Federación. The club finished 12th last season and was relegated. Carrasco has yet to appear this season, which is her first professional contract.

In the United States, Maddy Anderson is with Dallas Trinity in the USL Super League, but has not played this season. Lexington SC’s Hannah Johnson and Ally Perry have appeared in matches, with Johnson boasting a 91.7% passing accuracy in the opponents’ half. Perry made her league debut in August after signing from Juventus in July.

In Sweden, Rylie Combs has played four matches for Eskilstuna United, recording five interceptions and blocking six shots in August. The team sits fourth in the Damallsvenskan with 26 points. Macey Hodge returned from injury to play five minutes for Racing Louisville FC in the NWSL, where the team ranks 13th with 23 points.

In Mexico, Aitana Martinez-Montoya has scored in three consecutive matches for Atlas FC, helping the club top Group A with 15 points. She has scored four goals in four games after transferring from Portugal. Likewise, Ilana Izquierdo has played for Tigres UANL, which leads Group A with a perfect 5-0 record.

Other Bulldogs like Ruthny Mathurin, Gwen Mummert, Catalina Perez, and Kennedy White are listed as not active this season, but remain part of the program’s professional alumni. The department encourages fans to follow their progress on social media under the handle ‘HailStateSOC.’
