Mississippi State Concludes Day Two at SEC Indoor Championships
COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Mississippi State track and field wrapped up the second day of the SEC Indoor Championships, hosted by Texas A&M. The team highlighted its efforts with a new program record and several top-10 all-time performances, according to the school.
In the weight throw, Marie Rougetet extended her all-time ranking with a personal best of 19.14 meters, finishing fourth. On the men’s side, Roury McCloyen set a program record with a throw of 19.94 meters, also a personal best.
The heptathlon concluded with Sacha Rifflart finishing fourth with 5,518 points, marking the second-highest total in program history. His performance earned the first points for the Bulldogs in the meet.
On the track, three Bulldogs made history in individual events. Milicent Kemboi posted the fifth-fastest time in program history in the women’s mile at 4:42.34. In the women’s 400-meter, Jessicka Woods clocked in at 54.12 seconds, the third-best in program history. De’Kayla Simpson also ran a personal best of 54.43 seconds, now ranking fifth all-time in the event.
Nicholas Fakorede qualified for the 60-meter final with the fifth-fastest time in the field at 6.58 seconds. The final race and remaining competition are scheduled for Saturday evening, according to the school.
