Mississippi State Adds Guard Reese Beaty for 2026-27 Season
Mississippi State women’s basketball announced the signing of Reese Beaty for the 2026-27 season. Beaty, a 5-foot-8 guard from Jamestown, Tennessee, spent her freshman year at Iowa State.
During her debut season, Beaty played in 27 games, starting twice, and averaged 4.6 points, 3.3 assists, 2.6 rebounds, and nearly one steal in 20.6 minutes per game, according to school officials.
She demonstrated her ability as a facilitator, recording five or more assists in eight games and tying her season high of six assists in six contests. Beaty finished third among all Cyclones with 90 assists last season.
Beaty also showcased her ball distribution skills while protecting the basketball. She ended the season with a 1.8 assist-to-turnover ratio, ranking second among Big 12 freshmen and fourth nationally among freshmen averaging at least three assists per game. She was one of five freshmen nationally to rank inside the top 100 in this category.
Her contributions helped Iowa State achieve a 1.58 assist-to-turnover ratio, which led the Big 12 and ranked third nationally. Beaty scored a season-high 13 points against Sacred Heart, going 4-of-7 from the field, and also tallied 11 points in a game against Mercyhurst.
She is the third transfer addition for the Bulldogs this offseason, joining seniors Cali Smallwood and Macie Phifer, who entered the portal from other programs. Mississippi State also returns its top two scorers from last season, Madison Francis and Favour Nwaedozi, who averaged a double-double last year. The team will add freshmen Lani Smallwood, Alabama’s Gatorade Girl’s Player of the Year, and Andrea Flores from Tennessee.
