Mississippi College Softball Players Earn All-GSC Honors Ahead of Conference Tournament

Four Mississippi College softball players have been named to the 2026 All-Gulf South Conference teams, the league announced ahead of the GSC Softball Championship Tournament.

Blakely Gill and Shelby Samples earned first-team All-GSC honors, while Ellie Fryar and Morgan Lavergne were named to the second team. Gill and Samples also received Gold Glove awards for their defensive performances.

Gill, a sophomore catcher, was recognized for her outstanding offensive and defensive season. Samples, a senior outfielder, was honored for both her batting and fielding skills. Fryar, a junior shortstop, made the second team after anchoring the infield, and Lavergne, a senior infielder, was also named to the second team after a strong all-around campaign.

The team is set to open the GSC Tournament Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. against Montevallo at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Alabama. Montevallo’s roster features multiple all-conference selections, including first-team outfielder Taylor Rogers and second-team third baseman Becca Benton.

Mississippi College aims to make a deep run in the postseason tournament, which begins Wednesday in Oxford.
