Mississippi College Baseball Earns No. 6 Seed in NCAA South Region
CLINTON, Miss. — Mississippi College baseball has been seeded sixth in the NCAA Division II South Region rankings, the organization announced Wednesday. The Choctaws enter the postseason with a 27-22 overall record, including a 24-21 mark against regional opponents.
The South Region features 10 teams, led by top seed West Florida (35-13) and second seed Tampa (35-7). Other highly ranked teams include Rollins, West Alabama, and Delta State, which rounds out the top five. Mississippi College is one of four Gulf South Conference programs in the field, along with West Florida, West Alabama, and Delta State.
Other teams in the regional rankings include Lee (34-15), Trevecca Nazarene (30-19), Florida Southern (24-18), and Montevallo (27-23). The Choctaws secured their spot in the top six after finishing the regular season strongly, with key conference wins bolstering their postseason resume.
Mississippi College is set to return to action on Saturday, May 2, facing No. 25 West Florida in the Gulf South Conference Tournament in Oxford, Alabama. The first pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m.
