Mississippi Christian’s Kipple, Mitchell Earn All-Tournament Honors at Reddie-Tiger Invitational
Logan Orman — Mississippi Christian volleyball players Samarin Kipple and Cydney Mitchell received all-tournament honors after the team’s four-match run at the Reddie-Tiger Invitational held at Duke Wells Center.
Kipple, a junior, anchored the team’s defense with 73 digs, 22 assists, and eight service aces over the weekend. She recorded 15 digs, seven assists, and four aces in the team’s 3-1 win over Erskine on Friday. She also added 15 digs against Ouachita Baptist and 18 digs with five assists against UT Tyler on Saturday. Her standout performance came in the five-set victory over Missouri S&T, where she tallied a tournament-high 25 digs and nine assists. Her assist on Caroline Downey’s match-winning kill helped secure the victory in the fifth set.
Mitchell, a junior outside hitter, provided consistent offensive production, totaling 40 kills with a .397 hitting percentage and 11 blocks across four matches. She opened with a team-high 15 kills and a .560 hitting percentage against Erskine. Mitchell contributed eight kills and three blocks against Ouachita Baptist, then posted four kills and five blocks in the win over UT Tyler. Her best performance came in the five-set match against Missouri S&T, where she recorded 13 kills, four blocks, and 17 points.
These honors mark the first tournament recognition for both players this season. Mississippi Christian returns home Thursday, Sept. 10, to face Flagler at 6 p.m. at A.E. Wood Coliseum.
