Millsaps Track and Field Sets 16 Personal Bests at Rhodes 7-Way Meet
The Millsaps College track and field teams posted 16 personal bests and won four events at the Rhodes 7-Way Meet Saturday at Crain Field in Memphis, Tennessee, according to school officials.
On the men’s side, distance runners led the way. Sophomore Greer Hernandez set a school record in the 5,000 meters with a time of 15 minutes, 15.96 seconds, finishing first among 17 runners and beating the field by over 16 seconds, school officials said. Hernandez’s time improved his own school record by nearly 19 seconds.
Freshman Benjamin Sylve finished fourth in the 800 meters in 1:58.65, just 0.3 seconds shy of the school record. Dallas Stricker, also a freshman, became the fourth-fastest runner in program history after placing second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:25.27. Sean Wyers, another freshman, won the discus with a throw of 41.91 meters and finished third in the hammer throw at 30.88 meters.
In the shot put, sophomores Dillon Duley and Michael Cosgriff placed second and third, respectively. Duley threw 12.55 meters, while Cosgriff set a personal best with 12.31 meters. Junior Carter Davis added a personal best in the javelin with a throw of 27.49 meters, placing fifth.
The men’s sprinters also performed well. Freshman Nick Price finished third in the 100 meters in 11.32 seconds, setting a personal best. Luke LeFors and Aidan Brice also posted personal bests, with LeFors finishing third in the 400 meters in 51.45 seconds and fourth in the 200 meters in 23.03 seconds. Brice was fifth in the 200 meters in 23.26 seconds. Additionally, freshman Frederick Fluker Jr. placed third in the 110-meter hurdles in 16.36 seconds.
The men’s 4×100-meter relay team, consisting of Brice, Wyatt Wheeler, Fluker Jr., and W.H. Carver, finished third with a season-best time of 43.35 seconds.
On the women’s side, senior Eleanor Scott and junior Amelia Bohl led the team with event wins. Scott took first in the triple jump at 10.53 meters, while Bohl won the discus at 34.84 meters. Bohl also finished second in the hammer throw at 37.86 meters, marking her second personal-best distance of the day.
Senior Amari Jackson-Wright improved her shot put mark to 10.57 meters, earning third place and ranking as the fourth-best in program history. She also set a personal best in the hammer throw. Junior Reese Brasseaux and sophomore Laken Day each achieved personal bests in the discus. In the high jump, freshman Katie Brown and Scott both cleared 1.47 meters (4 feet, 9.75 inches), placing fourth and fifth, respectively.
Junior Fiona Selders showcased her sprinting talent, finishing second in the 100 meters in 12.73 seconds and fourth in the 200 meters in 25.75 seconds. The team will next compete at the 2026 Southern Athletic Association Outdoor Championships, scheduled for April 24-25 in Rome, Georgia, hosted by Berry College, according to school officials.
Millsaps athletes achieved notable results across multiple disciplines at the meet, demonstrating strong performances heading into postseason competition, officials added.
