Belhaven Baseball Falls to Huntingdon in Doubleheader

The No. 16-ranked Belhaven University baseball team lost both games of a doubleheader at Huntingdon College on Saturday. The Blazers, now 25-10 this season, faced tough pitching and costly innings in both contests.

In the opener, Huntingdon scored six runs in the fifth inning and added five more in the eighth to secure an 11-4 victory. Belhaven threatened early but couldn’t capitalize, leaving runners on base in key moments. Jake McCann led the offense with two hits and two RBIs, including a two-run homer in the seventh. Despite the loss, McCann and Parker Ryan provided offensive sparks for the Blazers.

The second game saw Huntingdon jump to a 5-0 lead after three innings. Belhaven rallied in the seventh, scoring five runs to close the gap to 7-5, but could not complete the comeback. Austin Canale delivered a two-run single during the rally, and Brayden Thompson and Blake McCarthy also contributed RBIs. Huntingdon responded immediately in the bottom of the inning with a three-run homer, sealing the 10-5 victory.

Belhaven will conclude its non-conference schedule Tuesday with a road game against Rhodes College before resuming conference play. Fans can follow team updates on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook, and support the program through Team Green Giving.
