Millsaps Soccer Teams Picked Ninth in SAA Preseason Polls

The Millsaps College men’s and women’s soccer programs were each selected ninth in the 2026 Southern Athletic Association preseason polls, released Wednesday by the league office. The polls were determined by votes from league coaches.

On the men’s side, Trinity University received 72 points and eight first-place votes to top the poll. Southwestern University was second with 55 points and one first-place vote, followed by Berry College with 54 points. Millsaps, led by head coach Gentry Johnson, was picked ninth with 16 points. The team features a 43-player roster and will open its season on Sept. 4 with a match against Pensacola Christian College.

The women’s poll saw Trinity again in first place with 71 points and seven first-place votes. Sewanee was second with 64 points and two first-place votes. Rhodes College took third with 58 points. Millsaps, under coach Luke Schwarz, was projected to finish ninth with 16 points. The women’s team will host Huntingdon College on Sept. 1 to kick off its season.

Both teams are eager to compete in the upcoming season. The men’s squad’s season opener is scheduled for Sept. 4, while the women’s team begins play on Sept. 1. Fans are encouraged to follow the programs on social media and visit gomajors.com for updates.
