Millsaps Football Ties for Fourth in 2026 SAA Preseason Poll

CANTON, Ga. — The Millsaps College football team tied for fourth place in the 2026 Southern Athletic Association preseason poll, announced after a vote by conference coaches. The Majors finished last season with a 6-4 record and ranked fourth in the conference standings.

Trinity University was picked to finish first with 54 points and five first-place votes, followed by Berry College with 52 points and three first-place votes. Centre College secured third place with 38 points. Millsaps and Maryville College tied for fourth with 37 points each, according to the league office.

Brandon Lechtenberg, the 2024 SAA Coach of the Year, returns to lead the Majors along with his nine assistant coaches. Last season, 15 Millsaps players earned all-conference honors, with eight returning for the upcoming season. The team finished third in the conference with 25 touchdowns and fourth with 2,460 passing yards, while recording a conference-low six interceptions.

The offense will be led by sophomore quarterback Grant Bizjack, a dual-threat player named SAA Rookie of the Year after the 2025 season. Bizjack earned five weekly conference honors last year. The Majors open their 2026 campaign at home against Belhaven University in the Riverside Rumble on Sept. 3 at Harper Davis Field, with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
