Millsaps Baseball Drops Weekend Games to Edgewood and Huntingdon

The Millsaps College baseball team lost two games over the weekend at Neal Posey Field, falling to Edgewood University 13-6 and Huntingdon College 9-3, according to team reports.

In the first game against Edgewood, Millsaps managed seven hits and drew 10 walks. Sophomore Cam Cressend pitched 3.1 innings, allowing two earned runs on three hits. Senior EJ Ousley scored two runs and stole two bases, showcasing speed. Freshman Hudson Moberly had two hits and an RBI. Junior Carston Williams contributed defensively with five assists and added a stolen base.

The game started well for Millsaps, with Ousley scoring an unearned run in the first inning. He then stole home in the third, pushing the lead to 2-0. Edgewood responded with two runs in the fourth to tie the game. Millsaps regained a 4-2 lead in the fifth but saw the Wildcats tie it again at 4-4 in the same inning. Edgewood took a slight lead with a solo homer in the sixth, but Millsaps tied it at 5-5 in the seventh. Both teams exchanged runs in the eighth and ninth innings, but Edgewood pulled away with four runs in the eighth and three in the ninth to win 13-6.

In the second game against Huntingdon, Millsaps trailed 4-0 after the first inning. Junior Wesley Grant doubled and stole a base, and Williams and senior Mason Morgan each had two hits. Freshman Dominic Mendieta drove in a run. Huntingdon extended its lead to 5-1 with unearned runs in the second inning. The Hawks added to their lead in the third and sixth innings, breaking the game open with three runs in the sixth. Millsaps scored a late run in the seventh and eighth, including a score on an error by the catcher, but the team fell 9-3.
