Kewan Lacy Named to Doak Walker Award Preseason Watch List
Dallas — Kewan Lacy of Ole Miss was named to the preseason watch list for the 2026 Doak Walker Award, the PwC SMU Athletic Forum announced Tuesday. The award is given annually to the nation’s top college running back.
Lacy, a finalist for the award last season, set two program records with 1,567 rushing yards and 24 touchdowns. He earned first-team All-American honors in 2025, according to the forum.
The Dallas native has garnered multiple preseason accolades for 2026, including spots on watch lists for the Walter Camp and Maxwell Awards. He also received first-team All-America honors from Walter Camp, ESPN, On3, Athlon, and Phil Steele, along with first-team all-conference honors from various outlets.
The PwC SMU Athletic Forum will select 10 semifinalists in November, with three finalists announced shortly after. The award recipient will be revealed during the Home Depot College Football Awards show on Dec. 10.
Ole Miss finished the 2025 season with a College Football Playoff semifinal appearance. The Rebels are scheduled to open the 2026 season Sunday, Sept. 6, against Louisville at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee, with kickoff set for 6:30 p.m. Central Time.
