Jones edges National Park College on Jadama’s late header

ELLISVILLE — With the match tied into the 76th minute, freshman Essa Jadama scored a header off a set piece to give No. 7 Jones a 1-0 victory over National Park College on Friday afternoon.

The Bobcats improved to 3-0 with their third straight shutout to start the season, outscoring opponents 10-0. National Park College fell to 1-1.

Jones goalkeeper Joseph Jones made eight saves to keep the match deadlocked through the first 75 minutes. His best save came in the 62nd minute, when he stopped two shots from Stanley Georgiou and one from Sam Rogers.

Jones broke the deadlock 14 minutes after the save, when NPC was whistled for a yellow card and awarded a free kick. Mario Novaku delivered a precise ball into the box, where Jadama made a diving header that resulted in the game-winning goal.

Jones outshot NPC 12-5, including a 9-2 advantage on goal. Logan Correro was tested twice and saved both shots. NPC committed 13 fouls and received four yellow cards, while Jones received three yellow cards.

The Bobcats host Georgia Military College on Sunday at 3 p.m.
