Jones Bobcats beat Georgia Military 6-1 to stay unbeaten
ELLISVILLE — The No. 7 Jones Bobcats extended their unbeaten streak to five games with a 6-1 victory over Georgia Military College on Sunday afternoon.
Five of the six goal scorers scored their first goals of the season. Calvin Harrison opened the scoring 4:07 into the match, followed by Braden Buchanan 1 minute and 25 seconds later. Dillon Watson added his first of the year in the 26th minute, and Sam Rogers scored his first collegiate goal 57 seconds afterward.
Georgia Military got on the board just before halftime, with Daniel Cazacu netting a goal to make it 4-1 at the break. The Bobcats added two more goals in the second half. Stanley Georgiou scored in the 65th minute, and Louie Fitzpatrick found the net in the 83rd minute to cap the scoring.
The teams were evenly matched in shots and corners, with Jones holding a slight edge in shot attempts, 16-14. Both teams recorded five corner kicks. Jones goalkeeper Logan Correro made four saves in 66 minutes, and Aiden Reiter finished the match with one save.
Jones (4-0) will now face No. 5 Northeast in Nebraska and Enterprise State on the road before returning home Sept. 10 to host Dyersburg State, according to school officials.
