Jones College promotes Dominique Sullivan to offensive coordinator

ELLISVILLE — Jones College has promoted Dominique Sullivan to offensive coordinator, head coach Lytrel Pollard announced Friday. Sullivan, who served as the Bobcats quarterbacks coach in 2025, earned the promotion after making significant contributions to the team’s offense.

“One thing I like about him is that our quarterbacks trust him,” Pollard said. “When the quarterback speaks highly of him and how he makes decisions, that makes him better as a player. It’s all about the team, and you know if the players are comfortable with him, that makes me comfortable.”

Sullivan was a standout at Taylorsville High School before playing four years as a wide receiver at Southern Miss. During his time with the Golden Eagles, he recorded 77 catches for 1,190 yards and eight touchdowns. He helped lead Southern Miss to a 2011 Conference USA championship and a win in the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl over Nevada.

After graduating in 2014, Sullivan coached at Long Beach High School for a year before spending a decade as an assistant coach at Southwest Mississippi. He served as wide receivers coach for eight seasons before being named offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Under his leadership, Southwest Mississippi’s offense averaged 26.2 points per game in his first year as OC, up from 18.6 points prior to his promotion. The team ranked third in passing yards in the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACCC) in both 2023 and 2024.

Pollard, who was familiar with Sullivan as both a player and coach, said he had been watching him for several years. “I’ve been watching Dom the last five or six years over at Southwest because I had to go against him,” Pollard said. “One thing I like about him is that his kids play fast. They did not do a lot schematically different than everyone else, but it was the confidence his kids played with that impressed me.”

Pollard also noted their longtime connection, saying, “I’ve known him since my days at Southern Miss as a coach, and he was there playing receiver. I remember him coming out of high school. I know if I’m not around, he could do everything that can help make us better offensively.”

Sullivan will have the chance to set the foundation for the offense when spring practice begins March 31. Pollard said the team will have more players available, allowing for more development and evaluation. The Bobcats are scheduled to open the 2026 season at home against Holmes on Aug. 27.
