Jones College Men’s Golf Finishes Second at MACCC Championship

BROOKHAVEN, Miss. — Jones College’s men’s golf team finished second at the MACCC Championship held at The Club at Ole Brook. The Bobcats posted a combined score of 565, finishing 13 strokes behind Mississippi Gulf Coast, which shot a 552 to win the title.

The Bobcats carded rounds of 280 and 285 on Monday and Tuesday, respectively. They trailed MGCCC by two shots after the first round and briefly led by two midway through the second round before falling behind in the final stages.

Meridian finished third with a score of 568. East Central, Hinds, and Northeast followed in the standings, earning spots in the upcoming NJCAA Gulf District Tournament scheduled for April 27-29 at Castlewoods Country Club in Brandon. The top six teams from the MACCC qualified for the event.

Individually, Bastian Graf led Jones with a 71-69—140, finishing tied for sixth place. Josh Tombs and Evan Bass each shot 70-72—142, tying for eighth. Julius Hautmann and Drew Groscost both finished with 145, tied for 16th. Graf earned All-MACCC First Team honors, and Groscost received Second Team recognition for their performances this season.

Mississippi Gulf Coast’s Logan Jensen was medalist with a 69-67—136, 4-under par. His teammate, Paul Hoefer, finished second with a 70-67—137. Dax Reaux from Meridian took third with a 70-68—138.
