Jones College Baseball Players Earn All-MACCC Honors

JACKSON — Five players from Jones College have been named to the 2026 All-MACCC Baseball Team, with Trevor Hodges earning Pitcher of the Year and First Team All-MACCC honors, according to league officials.

Hodges, a transfer freshman from Mississippi College, posted a 10-1 record with six saves and a 1.55 ERA. In 64 innings, he allowed 11 earned runs, struck out 77 and walked 12. Opponents batted .192 against him, the league reported.

Chase Russell, a sophomore from Madison Central, was a standout two-way player. He hit .371 with a team-high 15 home runs, 14 doubles, 63 runs scored, and 70 RBIs. He also went 4-2 on the mound with a save in 47.2 innings.

Another sophomore, Colton Smith from Bossier City, Louisiana, was the team’s top starter. He finished with an 11-3 record, five complete games, a 3.29 ERA and 92 strikeouts in 109.1 innings. Smith won all three of his postseason starts, including in regional, super regional and World Series play.

Freshman Dylan Champagne from Prairieville, Louisiana, led the team in batting average (.384), hits (78), and doubles (21). He drove in 43 runs and was 11-for-13 in stolen bases, with a fielding percentage of .956 across multiple positions. Sanders Ainsworth, also a freshman from Madison Central, batted .360 with 11 home runs and tied Russell with 70 RBIs. He collected 73 hits, 11 doubles and posted a .606 slugging percentage.

The Bobcats finished the season with a 41-18 record, capturing the NJCAA Region 23 championship and making their first World Series appearance since 2016. The All-MACCC teams were selected by league head coaches, with no ties reported, the league said.
