Jackson State’s Gokalp Ayar Earns SWAC Second Team Honors

Jackson, Miss. – Jackson State senior Gokalp Ayar was named to the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Second Team All-Conference on Thursday night, prior to the start of the conference tournament.

Ayar, the men’s tennis team’s sole representative on the all-conference teams, concluded his final season with a 3-1 singles record against SWAC opponents at the third spot and a 5-5 overall record. He contributed to the Tigers’ victory over Mississippi Valley State, securing a win by blanking his opponent to help clinch the team’s second win of the season.

In doubles play, Ayar partnered with Fabrizio to form an 8-4 team, including a 2-1 record in conference matches. His performance helped highlight his significance to the Tigers’ lineup during his final year.
