Jackson State Secures No. 2 Seed in SWAC Softball Tournament
The Southwestern Athletic Conference announced its 2026 softball tournament seedings following the conclusion of regular season play. Florida A&M secured the No. 1 seed from the Eastern Division, while Jackson State earned the No. 2 seed, according to the league.
Bethune-Cookman and Alabama State took the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds from the Eastern Division, respectively. Prairie View A&M claimed the top spot in the Western Division, with Southern and Texas Southern following as the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds. Arkansas-Pine Bluff rounded out the seeds with a No. 4 ranking.
The tournament will be held at the Gulfport Sportsplex in Gulfport, Mississippi, beginning Tuesday, May 5. It will follow a double-elimination format, with the championship game scheduled for Saturday, May 9, if necessary. All games will be streamed live on SWAC TV.
First-day matchups include Jackson State versus Texas Southern, Southern versus Bethune-Cookman, Prairie View A&M versus Alabama State, and Florida A&M versus Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The tournament’s structure includes multiple rounds, culminating in the championship game.
