Hinds Men’s Golf Finishes Historic Run at NJCAA Division II Championship
The Hinds Community College men’s golf team concluded its season this week at the NJCAA Division II Men’s Golf National Championship at Swan Lake Golf Resort in Plymouth, Indiana. The Eagles made their first appearance in the national tournament since 2000, competing against the top programs across the country.
Over four rounds, the team faced a competitive field and challenging scoring conditions. Sophomore Stephen Faucheaux led the team with a top-10 finish, placing ninth overall at 5-over par. His performance included a standout second round of 67, which helped him climb into the top 10 and earned him NJCAA Division II Second Team All-American honors.
Head coach Chad Davis praised Faucheaux’s effort, saying, “Stephen might not be the biggest, strongest, or longest, but he has the heart of a lion and has helped bring Hinds Golf back into the national spotlight.”
Other team members gained valuable experience during the tournament. Christopher Cain finished at 19-over par, Jarrett Pettis shot 33-over, Cole Baglione posted a 32-over total, and Trevor Antley finished at 50-over overall.
The championship was won by Murray State (Okla.), with several nationally ranked teams near the top of the leaderboard. The Eagles’ participation signifies a major step forward for the program, showcasing its growth and competitiveness at the national level. With strong individual performances and experience gained, Hinds aims to build on this momentum next season.
