UTICA, Miss. — Lauren Dixon has been named the new head coach of Hinds Community College women’s basketball, the college announced Tuesday. Dixon arrives with a proven track record of success from her time coaching at Florence High School, where her teams earned district titles and postseason appearances.

Her teams were known for their toughness and discipline, and Dixon has gained recognition for mentoring young women and preparing them for success on and off the court. “I’m incredibly excited for the opportunity to become the next head coach of the Hinds Women’s Basketball program,” Dixon said. “I’m ready to identify and develop the next group of student-athletes who will believe in our vision and help restore the proud legacy of our Utica Campus.”

A graduate of Mississippi College with advanced degrees in education, Dixon maintains strong ties to Mississippi and the local basketball community. Her experience and connections are expected to aid in recruiting efforts and program development. Her coaching philosophy emphasizes accountability, effort and continuous improvement, aligning with the values of Hinds Athletics.

“This is an exciting day for Hinds Women’s Basketball,” said Athletic Director Nathan Werremeyer. “Coach Dixon’s passion, experience and ability to connect with student-athletes make her a great fit for our program. We’re confident she will build on our tradition and take us to the next level.”
