Five Southern Miss Women’s Golfers Named WGCA All-American Scholars

HATTIESBURG, Miss. — Five players from the University of Southern Mississippi women’s golf team were named WGCA All-American Scholars on Monday, according to school officials.

The recipients are Taylor Trible, Savannah Van Gaalen, Fernanda Gorostiaga, Louise Cuyvers and Olivia Romer. To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50, be amateurs, and participate in at least half of their team’s competitive rounds during the season, including conference championships.

WGCA’s All-American Scholar honor is among the most selective in college athletics, emphasizing both athletic and academic excellence. The university’s list of past recipients spans over a decade, showcasing a consistent tradition of academic achievement within the golf program.

Southern Miss’s golf program has recognized numerous scholar-athletes each year, with recent winners including Jacee Fields, Momoka Ando, and Elena Melich for the 2022-23 season. The 2025-26 honorees continue that legacy of academic distinction.

Additional honors for the team include recent all-conference selections and top finishes at league tournaments, reflecting a balanced focus on both academic and athletic success.
