Delta State Sweeps AUM in Baseball Series, Moves to Third in GSC

Montgomery, Ala. — The Delta State University baseball team swept a doubleheader from Auburn Montgomery on Saturday, winning Game 1 11-5 and Game 2 14-11 at the AUM Baseball Complex. The victories moved the Statesmen to 26-16 overall and 19-11 in Gulf South Conference play, placing them third in the league standings. AUM fell to 11-34 overall and 6-24 in conference.

In the first game, Delta State scored early with a five-run first inning. Levi Lang highlighted the frame with a three-run home run to left-center, driving in Landon Holliman and Tucker Jones. Cade Greer added a sacrifice fly, and Austin Estes doubled home Austin Batts, making it 5-0. Lang finished with three hits, two home runs, and four RBIs. Estes went 3-for-4 with five RBIs, including a three-run double in the ninth to seal the win. Blake King earned the win, allowing four runs over six innings, while Ryan Herbison picked up his first save of the season in relief.

In Game 2, Delta State exploded for 10 runs in the first inning, sending 15 batters to the plate. Highlights included Levi Lang’s RBI double, Cade Greer’s RBI single, and a three-run triple from Lang. Austin Batts added a two-run triple, and Henley Parker hit a solo home run in the fourth. The Statesmen totaled 12 hits and drew seven walks. AUM rallied with three runs in the fifth and six in the sixth but could not complete the comeback. Dawson Muenzenmay closed the game with two strikeouts in the seventh for his fifth save. Aidan McCrady earned the win in relief after 2.2 scoreless innings, with Mason Shropshire starting the game.

Across both games, Levi Lang went 6-for-9 with three home runs and eight RBIs, leading the offense that scored 25 runs overall. Delta State returns to action Tuesday with a non-conference game at Harding University. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. Central Time.
