Coahoma Football Looks for First Win in Road Game Against East Central

CLARKSDALE, Miss. — The Coahoma Community College football team travels to Decatur, Mississippi, on Thursday to face East Central Community College in a Week 3 matchup. The Tigers, who are 0-2 this season, are looking to earn their first win after a tough 27-14 home loss to Jones College last week.

Coahoma showcased a resilient rushing attack during the game, gaining 154 yards on the ground. Quarterback Jacob Clopton led the effort with 59 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries. Running backs Issac Day and Prentavis Madison also contributed significantly, rushing for 50 and 45 yards, respectively.

Defensively, the Tigers displayed disruptive energy, recording eight tackles for a loss against Jones College. Linebacker Gregory Green stood out with 10 tackles, including three for a loss. The secondary will rely on defensive back Deshun Brooks, who returned an interception 36 yards for a touchdown in Week 2.

East Central, with a 1-1 record, enters the game motivated after narrowly losing 34-31 to Itawamba Community College. The Warriors’ offense produced 356 total yards, led by dual-threat quarterback Christian Langford, who completed 13 of 22 passes for 150 yards and rushed for 72 yards, including a 54-yard touchdown.

The Tigers’ secondary will be tested by East Central’s top receivers, Dawson Simmons and Brennan Gibson, who recorded 74 and 67 receiving yards last week. Defensively, the Warriors are led by Jalen Anderson, Reuben Bilbrew, and Radarron Leech II, who each registered seven tackles in their recent game.

Supporters are encouraged to travel to Decatur to cheer on Coahoma as they aim to secure their first conference victory of the season.
