Bryce Chance Named to SEC Community Service Team
STARKVILLE, Miss. — Mississippi State baseball player Bryce Chance has been named to the Southeastern Conference’s Community Service Team, marking his second straight week of community recognition, according to a university news release.
Chance, an outfielder, has volunteered extensively with the Miracle and Challenger Baseball Leagues in the Golden Triangle area for the past four years. The leagues offer children and adults with special needs opportunities to play baseball, and Chance has been active in helping with camps and games. The cause holds personal significance for him, as his older brother, Brooks, is autistic and participates in the leagues.
In addition to his work with the Miracle and Challenger Leagues, Chance has volunteered with the Salvation Army and makes annual visits to Batson’s Children’s Hospital in Jackson, the release said. A Ridgeland graduate, Chance has started 51 of 52 games this season, ranking second in the SEC with 18 doubles and third with a .371 batting average. He also leads Mississippi State with 12 stolen bases and has struck out only 14 times all season.
During SEC play, Chance is batting .369 with two grand slams and has struck out just 10 times in 117 plate appearances, the university noted.
