Blue Mountain Christian splits with Tennessee Southern, earns No. 4 seed in SSAC softball tournament

Pulaski, Tenn. — Blue Mountain Christian wrapped up its regular season with a doubleheader split against Tennessee Southern Firehawks, clinching the No. 4 seed in the upcoming SSAC Softball Championship.

In the opening game, both teams fought to a 2-2 tie through six innings. The Firehawks took a 4-2 lead in the seventh, holding on for the win. Kelsey Camp led the Toppers offensively, going 3-for-3 with an RBI. Madison Montgomery pitched all six innings, allowing two earned runs.

The Toppers responded strongly in game two, posting a 12-6 victory. They scored six runs in the first inning, highlighted by Mikaylah Fuqua’s RBI triple and a two-run home run from Camp. Tennessee Southern answered with six runs in the third to tie the game, but Blue Mountain Christian regained control in the following innings.

In the fourth inning, Fuqua delivered another triple, driving in two runs and sparking a four-run frame. Aspen Teague contributed a four-hit effort with three RBIs, and Camp added three RBIs as well. Wisher and Barrier also chipped in offensively, each recording multiple hits and RBIs.

Neely Cooper pitched a complete game, allowing five earned runs and striking out three to earn the win. The victory secures Blue Mountain Christian as the No. 4 seed in the SSAC tournament, marking a season of record-setting success, including a new program record for wins.
