Blue Mountain Christian Softball Sweeps Bethel in Midweek Doubleheader

BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. — The Blue Mountain Christian softball team wrapped up its final midweek games of the season with a pair of victories over Bethel. The Toppers won the first game 8-1 and claimed the second in walk-off fashion, 10-9, according to team officials.

In Game 1, Blue Mountain Christian fell behind early but responded in the third inning. Mikaylah Fuqua delivered an RBI single to tie the game. Aspen Teague followed with a go-ahead RBI single, and Kelsey Camp added a run-scoring hit to give the Toppers a 3-1 lead. The team extended its advantage in the fourth inning, highlighted by a two-RBI triple from Teague that made it 7-1. Fuqua added another RBI in the sixth, helping secure the 8-1 victory. Madison Montgomery earned the win, allowing one run over four innings, while Janna Shaw pitched three shutout innings for the save.

The second game saw Bethel establish an 8-1 lead early on. Blue Mountain Christian rallied beginning in the fourth inning, sparked by a two-run home run from Maryn Macri. The team continued to chip away with hits from Vaye Savage, Bre Ramsey, and Laklyn Nichols, trimming the deficit to 8-6 by the fifth inning. Bethel added a run in the top of the seventh, but the Toppers responded with a rally in the bottom half. Fuqua and Teague each delivered RBI singles, and Camp worked a bases-loaded walk to tie the game at 9-9. With the bases loaded, Savage singled through the infield to bring home the winning run, completing the comeback with a walk-off win.

Blue Mountain Christian finished with 17 hits in the second game, led by Teague’s four-hit performance and Harrison’s three hits. Savage added three hits and two RBIs, including the game-winner. Macri’s two-run homer was a key turning point in the comeback. Bri Langley started in the circle, and Gail Wisher earned the win with 5.2 innings of relief, allowing three runs and striking out four.

The wins mark a resilient finish for the Toppers, who continue to demonstrate their ability to respond under pressure late in the season. They are set to conclude the regular season Friday with a doubleheader against UT Southern.
