Belhaven’s Kimona Haynes Named CCS Track Athlete of the Week
Atlanta — Kimona Haynes of Belhaven University has been named the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Female Track Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive time, the conference announced Monday.
Haynes showcased her talent at the Belhaven Midweek Open and the Southern Miss Invitational. At Belhaven’s home meet, she won the 200 meters in 25.32 seconds and the 400 meters in 55.21 seconds. Her 400-meter time ranks among the top marks in program history and is fifth nationally among NCAA Division III athletes.
At the Southern Miss Invitational, Haynes set a personal best in the 100 meters with a time of 12.04 seconds, placing sixth overall. That mark ranks 16th nationally in Division III. She also finished third in the 200 meters in 24.58 seconds, which is seventh nationally.
Across the two meets, Haynes competed in three sprint events, earning two wins and recording multiple nationally-ranked times. Her performances helped her earn her second consecutive CCS weekly honor.
Haynes and the Blazers will compete this weekend at the 7-Way Invitational hosted by Rhodes College. It will be the final meet of the regular season before the CCS Outdoor Track & Field Championships later this month.
