Belhaven Men’s Tennis Beats LaGrange 5-2 in Home Match
The Belhaven men’s tennis team earned a 5-2 victory over LaGrange at home Wednesday. The Blazers opened the match strongly in doubles, with Jesus Diaz and Josiah Leggett dominating 6-0 at No. 1. Harshith Anugonda and Briley Oakes added another 6-0 win at No. 2, giving Belhaven an early lead.
The momentum carried into singles play. Anugonda defeated LaGrange’s top player 6-3, 6-0, and Diaz followed with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2. Oakes continued his solid season with a straight-set victory at No. 5. Jack Madden clinched the team win at No. 6 after dropping the first set but winning a 10-3 super tiebreaker.
Even in matches lost, Belhaven players showed resilience. The No. 3 singles match went to three sets, with LaGrange narrowly prevailing. The women’s team, however, fell 7-0 to LaGrange, with two doubles matches decided by forfeit and a sweep in singles.
