Allie Hazelwood Named Sun Belt Volleyball Setter of the Week
HATTIESBURG, Miss. — Southern Mississippi senior transfer Allie Hazelwood was named the Sun Belt Conference Setter of the Week, marking her first weekly honor of the 2026 season. Hazelwood played a key role in the Golden Eagles’ perfect 3-0 run at the Gamecock Classic.
Hazelwood led the conference in assists per set with 10.27 and totaled 113 assists during the tournament. Under her leadership, Southern Miss posted a .331 hitting percentage, the best in the league, while recording 147 kills and a 45% kill percentage. She also earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team alongside teammate Sadie McAda.
The last Southern Miss player to receive Setter of the Week honors was Sarah Bell in August 2017, when the team was part of Conference USA. Hazelwood is the first Golden Eagle to earn Sun Belt Setter of the Week since the team joined the league, and the first to receive a conference player of the week award since libero Sunni Sheppard was named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week in October 2025.
Southern Miss continues its season and encourages fans to follow updates on their Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), and Facebook pages.
