Alcorn State Announces 2026 Soccer Schedule
Alcorn State University revealed its 2026 men’s soccer schedule Friday, featuring 17 matches with seven home games at Key City Park in Vicksburg, Mississippi. The team will play nine Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) games, according to an announcement from Coach Ken Kabiru.
Last season, the Braves finished with a 5-8-4 record overall and went 3-3-2 in SWAC play, reaching the conference tournament semifinals. Kabiru, in his first year as head coach, returns many players from last season and aims for a deeper run this year.
“This schedule tests us early with some quality non-conference opponents, and that’s by design,” Kabiru said. “We want our players ready for SWAC play, and I believe the way we’ve built this challenging schedule gives us every opportunity to compete for a championship.”
The team’s season begins August 8 with an exhibition match against Southwest Mississippi Community College. Their home opener follows on August 13 against McNeese State at 6 p.m. The Braves will play four of their first six matches on the road, including trips to ULM, Nicholls State, Kentucky, and Mississippi State, before returning home September 3 to host Northwestern State.
Non-conference play concludes with a road game at North Carolina on September 20. The team opens SWAC play at Alabama State on September 27. October features a busy home stretch, with three consecutive conference matches at Key City Park against Grambling State, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, and Southern. Following the Southern game, the Braves travel to Jackson State on October 22, seeking revenge after a scoreless draw last season. The regular-season finale includes road games at Texas Southern and Prairie View A&M, with a home game against Alabama A&M on November 5 for Senior Day.
The SWAC Tournament is scheduled for Nov. 11-15 in Prairie View, Texas. The team and fans are hopeful for continued success, building momentum in the home matches and playoffs, according to Kabiru.
