An expected quiet National Signing Day was ended by a big-time commitment from four-star defensive tackle Tywone Malone.
Malone, the top rated player in New Jersey, picked the Rebels over Texas A&M, Florida State, and Rutgers.
In his comments, he stated that the Rebels baseball program was the deciding factor in choosing Ole Miss, where he plans to be a multi-sport athlete.
“Baseball was the key factor for me, and I feel like the program that I chose was the best fit for me. I really felt that was the best fit for me in both sports. I really fell like that was the place for me,” said Malone.
Malone is ranked as the sixth-best defensive tackle in the nation, the best player in the Ole Miss 2021 class, and will bring immediate impact to a defense that struggled greatly in 2020.
