Ole Miss Soccer falls 2-0 at No. 5 Alabama
Tuscaloosa, Ala. — Ole Miss Soccer lost 2-0 to No. 5 Alabama on Friday night at the Alabama Soccer Complex.
Alabama’s Ashley Roni opened the scoring in the ninth minute, tallying her seventh goal of the season off assists from Melina Rebimbas and Maison Smith. Less than five minutes later, Kiley Kukan assisted Kennedy Garcia, who scored her fourth goal of the year to double the Crimson Tide’s lead.
The Rebels responded with several scoring chances before halftime, matching Alabama with nine shots in the first half. Jenna Studer had a shot on goal in the final seconds of the period, but Alabama goalkeeper Madi Munguia made her third save to maintain the 2-0 lead at halftime.
Alabama applied continuous pressure after the break. Ole Miss goalkeeper Anna Claire Jacobi made five saves in the second half, finishing with a total of eight saves for the game. The Crimson Tide held a 26-12 shot advantage and placed 10 attempts on goal, compared to three for the Rebels. Alabama also earned four corner kicks to Ole Miss’s three.
Sarah Granno and Keira Mitchell led Ole Miss with two shots each, with Ghoreishi, Ramsden, and Studer accounting for the Rebels’ three shots on goal. Ole Miss (7-6-0, 0-5-0 SEC) will face Georgia next Friday in Athens.
The game marked the Rebels’ fifth consecutive loss in SEC play, leaving them seeking their first conference win of the season.
