Ole Miss football coach Pete Golding expressed frustration after Saturday’s loss to Florida, describing the environment as ‘an awesome environment’ but criticizing his team’s performance. He said the Rebels were outplayed in all phases, especially in the first half, citing issues with third-down conversions, missed tackles, and special teams missteps.

Golding noted that the team started slow and struggled with defensive leverage and explosive plays. He emphasized the importance of coaching and preparation, suggesting the team did not do enough during the week to compete at a high level. “We have to do a better job coaching them,” he said. “This does not define your season. This is a what-have-you-done-for-me-lately business.”

He also addressed defensive struggles, stating that the team needs to improve consistency and execution. Golding highlighted tackling as a critical issue and said the bye week provides an opportunity for evaluation and improvement. “There’s still flashes of winning football on that side of the ball,” he added, but acknowledged that tonight’s performance was unacceptable.

Offensive player Trinidad Chambliss reflected on the second-half effort, noting that the team started slow but gained momentum. He said the team’s confidence remains intact despite the defeat. “This isn’t going to define our season,” Chambliss said. “We need to learn from this, fix mistakes, and be better for the next game.”
